Someone who takes ownership of the entire sales operation and understands that productive work is the only work that matters.Leadership & ExpectationsLead from the front and set the example for the entire management and sales team.Be willing to come in first, leave last, and do what is necessary to make the dealership successful.Motivate, train, develop, and hold sales managers and salespeople accountable daily.Be capable of stepping into any sales management position and performing at a high level.Take turns, work deals, close customers, and get personally involved whenever needed.Develop managers who can desk deals, work lenders, train salespeople, and lead their own teams.Create a culture of urgency, accountability, and consistent production.Understand the difference between being busy and being productive. We expect results, not activity for the sake of activity.Desking, Finance & Lender RelationshipsExtensive hands-on experience in automotive desking and finance is an absolute requirement.Expert understanding of probability-based desking, deal structuring, lender guidelines, and maximizing profitability.Strong knowledge of prime, near-prime, and subprime financing.Personally pick up the phone and work with lenders to rehash deals, negotiate approvals, and find solutions.Know how to structure difficult deals, overcome credit challenges, and turn opportunities into deliveries.Have the ability to train sales managers on advanced desking, finance, and lender negotiations.Understand how to maximize front-end and back-end gross while maintaining volume and customer satisfaction.Never rely solely on someone else to make a deal happen when personal involvement can make the difference.Customer Engagement & Hands-On ProductionBe willing to personally make phone calls to customers every single day.Get involved with unsold customers, missed appointments, difficult negotiations, and opportunities that need management involvement.Pick up the phone and help bring customers back into the dealership.Work alongside the sales team to turn leads, phone calls, and showroom opportunities into actual sales.Take ownership of difficult deals rather than passing them off or waiting for someone else to solve them.Lead by demonstrating how to prospect, follow up, negotiate, and close.Make the calls that others aren't making and have the conversations that others are avoiding.Understand that the GSM's job is not just to manage opportunities but to personally help create and convert them.Productivity & Daily ExecutionWe believe there is a major difference between being busy and being productive.We are not looking for someone who spends their day buried in reports, emails, meetings, or administrative tasks while opportunities are being missed on the sales floor.We want a GSM who knows how to prioritize the activities that actually move the needle.Focus on revenue-generating activities and measurable results.Prioritize customer contact, appointments, closing deals, lender negotiations, and developing the team.Eliminate unnecessary distractions and avoid busy work that does not contribute to performance.Hold managers accountable for productive activity, not simply checking boxes.Know when to analyze the numbers and when to get on the phone, work a deal, or step onto the showroom floor.Be proactive rather than reactive. Don't wait for the end of the month to address problems.Make an impact on sales volume, gross profit, closing ratios, and overall dealership performance every day.Build a management team that understands that execution and results are what matter.Required ExperienceSignificant, proven experience in automotive sales management, preferably as a General Sales Manager.Extensive experience desking deals, structuring financing, and negotiating with lenders.Proven ability to develop and motivate a sales management team.Strong closing skills and the willingness to personally engage customers.Demonstrated success increasing sales volume, profitability, and overall dealership performance.Strong understanding of dealership operations, inventory, customer follow-up, and sales processes.Ability to make decisions quickly, solve problems, and perform under pressure.A proven track record of accountability, leadership, and consistent production.The Person We WantWe are not looking for someone who simply knows how to manage a dealership.We are looking for someone who knows how to PRODUCE.Someone who isn't afraid to grab the phone and call a customer.
