Registered Nurse, PACU Outpatient/Inpatient Surgery (36 hours, Day/Night)

Position Registered Nurse Location Menino PACU (Outpatient/Inpatient Surgery) Schedule 36 hours, Day/Night, Every 3rd Weekend About the Menino PACU Department The Menino Post Anesthesia Care Unit/Pre-Operative Unit on the new integrated procedural platform consists of 52 bays. All bays provide advanced intensive care monitoring and pre-operative care. The unit serves as a holding area for procedural patients requiring specialized cardiac and interventional care and functions as a high-acuity recovery area for patients coming directly from the OR/Procedural areas after surgery. Position Summary The registered nurse adheres to Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing rules and regulations. The role is responsible for professional performance and direct patient care, encompassing nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and families. The nurse is accountable for clinical, educational, quality, and fiscal patient care outcomes using the model of care designed by the nursing department and following established agency policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines, and standards of practice. Education Diploma, ASN, or BSN (BSN preferred). Must obtain BSN within 4 years if not currently held. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in Massachusetts. Current basic life support (BLS) certification. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Knowledge and Skills Basic computer proficiency for accessing, entering, and interpreting computerized data. Effective interpersonal skills for communication with healthcare team members, patients, and families. Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work. Multilingual skills (beyond English) in languages relevant to patient populations preferred. Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certification required for certain practice areas. Analytical ability to solve clinical nursing issues and conduct quality improvement projects. Ability to delegate appropriate patient care activities. Effective verbal and written communication skills appropriate to patient populations. Physical ability to meet core job responsibilities under practice setting demands. Ability to manage stress related to critical patient care issues, organizational changes, and personnel issues. Experience 1+ years of nursing experience. Critical Care experience required (PACU, ED, ICU). Previous or current PACU experience strongly preferred. Compensation Range $38.05 - $75.33 This range is an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications.
