Job Title: Registered Nurse - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation. Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem and Amiodarone. Ability to care for patients with tubes and drains. IV start skills, blood products management, wound care, and dressing changes. Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse specializing in MedSurg/Telemetry. The unit has 24 beds with an average daily census of 24 patients. Patient types include various diagnoses such as cardiac, respiratory, and neurological. The environment is fast-paced with observation levels included. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5-6, which may increase during surge staffing moments to 1:7-8. There is a CNA ratio of 1:12. Support within the department includes nursing resources and numerous support staff. Telemetry monitoring is available via a remote technician. The facility utilizes an EMR system, with required experience in EPIC. Shifts are scheduled in a rotating manner with weekend responsibilities every other week. Traveling staff may be required to float to other facilities within the region. Low census calls may occur, and holiday expectations involve working 75% of recognized holidays. The unit is characterized by a positive culture.
