Therapy - RRT

Registered Respiratory Therapist

Candidates will be responsible for providing all respiratory therapy duties. Therapists will conduct an average of 15 minutes per treatment, performing roughly 550 minutes per shift. Workload is high, and therapists must be accustomed to busy environments. Candidates will be involved in airway management, nebulizer treatments, and various methods of ventilation including BiPAP, CPAP, and mechanical ventilation. The role includes intubation, managing blood gases, and performing bedside pulmonary function tests. Common patient conditions include COPD, CHF, pneumonia, respiratory failure, ARDS, and various cancers. Therapists will collaborate closely with in-house hospitalists and intensivists. Each therapist will have a maximum of four airway management tasks at once, which encompasses managing vents and other airway needs. The position may require weekend and holiday shifts, rotated with permanent staff. Therapists will undergo a structured orientation process tailored to their unit assignments. Therapists are expected to feel confident in vent management and be proactive in reading ABGs, providing suggestions, and alerting to critical values. Assignments will vary based on unit needs and patient acuity.
