Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Level III NICU RN for a night shift position requiring delivery attendance experience and at least 3 years of NICU experience.

Details

• Level III NICU setting within a hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:2-3
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
• Float requirement to NOU (1:4-6 ratio) and normal newborn nursery
• Every other weekend requirement
• Holiday coverage required: at least 1 major and 1 minor holiday
• Self-scheduling available
• Grape/purple scrub color requirement

Requirements

• Active LA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 3 years of NICU nursing experience required
• Delivery attendance experience required (vaginal and C-section)
• Epic EMR experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Skilled in neonatal IV placement, lab draws, medication administration (IV, IM, SQ, ETT, OGT, NGT, oral, rectal, topical), and blood administration
• Experience managing ventilators and central lines
• Experience with UAC and UVC placement assistance
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Attend high-risk deliveries and assist with newborn transition
• Admit and discharge neonates to/from NICU and NOU
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team including NNP, MD, RN, social services, RT, radiology, and OT
• Provide parent education and support, including breastfeeding assistance
• Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion, PICC/UAC/UVC placement, intubation, and exchange transfusions
• Perform diagnostic support tasks including CBG/ABG draws, assisting with x-rays, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, and EEGs
• Administer oxygen and nitric oxide as needed
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles away to qualify for travel rate; local candidates within 75 miles accepted at local rate
• Former permanent employees of the health system must have separated for at least 1 year before being eligible for travel assignments
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
