The Acute Clinical Staff Pharmacist is responsible for delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care through the medication use process, ensuring safe, accurate, and effective medication therapy for patients. This role oversees pharmacy technicians and interns, coordinates workflow, verifies and approves medications prior to dispensing, and maintains thorough documentation of patient care activities. The Pharmacist assesses patient-specific needs, interprets clinical information, and provides age-appropriate pharmaceutical care while maintaining compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal pharmacy regulations.

The shift for this overnight position is a rotating schedule of 7-on/7-off and the shift time is 9pm to 7am.

Banner Ocotillo Medical Center is a new, comprehensive medical center located in Chandler, AZ. The hospital has 124 beds with ample shelled space for future growth. The hospital offers key inpatient and outpatient services, such as emergency care, intensive care, endoscopy, cardiac catheterization, imaging, surgical and women's services. The hospital utilizes cutting-edge technology to improve safety and quality, including robotic surgeries, UV disinfecting lighting, and smart devices for all caregivers.

This position is responsible for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients using the medication use process. This position is accountable for documentation of all components of pharmaceutical care they deliver to patients. Oversees the activities of pharmacy technicians and interns, coordinating workflow and approving medications prior to being dispensed. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients being served. Must assess data reflective of the patient's status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements and provide pharmaceutical care based on those needs. Adheres to local, state, and federal laws regarding the profession of pharmacy practice.

Core functions include processing medication orders, utilizing clinical pharmacy skills to assess patient medication regimens, complying with directives of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee/Clinical Consensus Group, driving professional development, preparing and dispensing medications, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy.

Minimum qualifications include unrestricted Pharmacist licensure in the state of practice and a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy. Banner Registry and Travel positions require a current and unrestricted Pharmacist license (not intern) at the time of hire and a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Must possess good organizational, problem solving, and computer skills. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and other contacts. Must have knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, Microsoft applications and Automated dispensing system.

Preferred qualifications include completion of an accredited pharmacy residency program or previous clinical pharmacy experience, previous hospital experience, and additional related education and/or experience.
