Typical duties for a phlebotomist may include, but is not limited to, the following:

• Performing phlebotomy according to established procedure
• Identifying patients and properly labeling specimen tubes
• Determining priority of STAT draws and ensuring timely transport of all patient specimens for testing
• Registering, ordering, and accessioning specimens utilizing lab and hospital information systems
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form
• Ensuring the efficient operation of the lab as a whole
