Lead AI Engineer Compliance Screening Platform
Location: Rockville, MD Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Duration: 6 months + long-term extensions
Work Authorization: Any
Interview: 1 Virtual + 1 In-Person

We are seeking a Lead AI Engineer to design and build an AI-powered compliance screening platform that analyzes communications against regulatory standards. The role focuses on LLMs, RAG, multimodal AI, explainable AI, and compliance risk management .
Key Responsibilities- Design scalable AI/ML pipelines for PDFs, emails, images, video/audio, and HTML .
- Build LLM-powered RAG systems grounded in regulatory content.
- Develop compliance classifiers, risk-scoring models, and violation-detection workflows.
- Implement prompt engineering, tool calling, fine-tuning, guardrails, and hallucination mitigation .
- Build explainable, evidence-backed AI decisions with complete audit trails .
- Define model evaluation metrics including precision, recall, and false negatives .
- Perform adversarial/edge-case testing and implement human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Provide technical leadership, establish AI/MLOps best practices, and mentor engineers.
- 10+ years in AI/ML or software engineering with production AI systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python, LLMs, NLP, RAG, and LLM evaluation .
- Experience with multimodal AI , OCR, document processing, or vision-language models.
- Experience with LangChain, AWS Strands , or similar LLM/agent frameworks.
- Experience with vector databases such as PGVector or Pinecone .
- Strong experience with AWS/Azure/GCP, MLOps, CI/CD, and scalable architectures .
- Experience with DeepEval or similar LLM evaluation frameworks is preferred.
- Financial services, regulatory, legal, healthcare, or other regulated-industry experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Explainable AI, AI governance, auditability, and compliance is a plus.
