Lead AI Engineer — AI Compliance (Advertising Regulations) - RQ00164

Our client, a leader in regulatory compliance and risk management solutions, is seeking a Lead AI Engineer for a long term contract. Job Title Lead AI Engineer Location Rockville, Maryland or McLean, VA (hybrid with 3 days on site) What's the Job? Design and develop AI-powered compliance screening platforms that evaluate communications for regulatory adherence across multiple formats such as PDFs, emails, social media, and videos. Lead the creation of scalable systems that analyze content using multimodal extraction techniques, including OCR, layout parsing, and vision-language models. Translate complex regulatory frameworks into machine-interpretable logic, including rule classifiers, risk scoring models, and violation detection workflows. Evaluate and implement large language models (LLMs) with prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and hallucination mitigation strategies to ensure accurate compliance decisions. Establish best practices for system architecture, coding, and MLOps, collaborating with legal, compliance, and product teams to ensure system integrity and reliability. What's Needed? Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, or related field; PhD preferred but not required. 8+ years of experience in software engineering or machine learning, with a proven track record of deploying production AI/ML systems. Strong expertise in NLP, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and multimodal AI tools and frameworks. Experience with Python ecosystem, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), and MLOps pipelines. Familiarity with compliance and risk management principles, explainable AI (XAI), and industry regulations is highly desirable. What's in it for me?
