Base Pay $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 / Year Job Category Accounting Required Degree 4 Year Degree Description We are seeking a Controller to join our office. They will be responsible for the financial operations of the business. This includes maintaining a sufficient system of accounting records and generating monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. The Controller is responsible for a comprehensive set of controls intended to enhance the accuracy of reported financial outcomes, mitigate risks, and ensure that reported results comply with financial reporting standards and generally accepted accounting principles. The Controller engages in all aspects of financial administration, such as payroll, cash management, budget and forecast preparation, corporate accounting, development of internal control policies and procedures, and regulatory and financial reporting. We’re searching for someone who is not only meticulously detail-oriented but also a creative problem-solver. This role requires an individual who can communicate clearly and collaborate seamlessly with others to tackle complex challenges and contribute to our shared success. Requirements Management Provide leadership and management to the Accounting Department, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Accounting to ensure the work is done accurately and timely. Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures. Manage outsourced functions as they relate to accounting and payroll. Provide guidance on the technology and software troubleshooting issues with accounting and payroll software. Oversee all operations of the payroll process, from timeclock integration to final check preparation. Design and maintain an organizational structure for the departments that supports achieving their goals and objectives. Reporting Issue timely and accurate financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Lead the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts. Prepare quarterly Board Meeting reports and presentations. Prepare and analyze financial statements, profit and loss reports, and reconcile income and expense reports. Create and track financial and operating metrics for all businesses. Recommend and report on benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations. Forecast trends and cash requirements to help with operating decisions. Provide insight, strategy, and advisement to ownership on financial shortcomings and opportunities. Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures, special projects, and capital expenditures. Provide analyses and advisement as needed for investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations. Responsible for the preparation of the annual 401(K) census and review of Third-Party Administrator testing and reporting, as well as other trustee related work, including 5500 review. Compliance Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting and payroll policies and procedures. Coordinate the reporting of financial information to outside CPA’s. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Stay up-to-date in annual local, state, and federal payroll law. Complete all company 1099 filings on an annual basis. Identify and address potential financial risks to the company. Ensure the integrity and efficiency of cash, receivables, and payables management. Develop and maintain all internal controls for the company and maintain a standard chart of accounts for all businesses. Other Duties Resolve accounting and payroll issues encountered in day-to-day operations. Act as backup for payroll input on a biweekly basis. Assist with other duties as necessary. Experience & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting. 5-10 years of related work experience , with assistant controller or controller experience a plus. CPA preferred . Ability to work independently. Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills. Experienced in Microsoft suite of products and most general ledgers. Strong Excel knowledge with in-depth knowledge of pivot tables. QuickBooks accounting knowledge a plus. UKG payroll software knowledge a plus.
