This role focuses on providing nursing care and treatment services to individuals with medical, behavioral, or developmental needs in a correctional setting. As a Registered Nurse, you will perform the following duties: Nursing Care: Deliver nursing services such as checking vital signs, giving medications, performing treatments, and reinforcing health education Medical Support: Assist physicians during exams and clinics while administering tests, screenings, and immunizations Emergency Response: Provide first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and an automated external defibrillator (AED) support and refer patients to appropriate medical professionals Record Keeping: Maintain accurate electronic health records, complete written reports, and safeguard controlled substances Supply Management: Sterilize instruments, handle chemical and steam methods, and maintain an organized inventory of treatment supplies Team Communication: Share shift reports, communicate urgent information, and support smooth operations within the facility Interested in learning more? The Department of Corrections is staffed by four (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 12 hour shifts

1. st shift : 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM
2. nd shift : 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM
3. rd shift : 2:00 PM to 2:30 AM

30-minute lunch. Work hours TO BE DETERMINED. Employee works 80 hours in a 2 week period with rotating days off. Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Qualifications This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
