Assistant Professor

Assistant Professor and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Program Coordinator Dominican University New York seeks an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join the Division of Nursing as an Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will serve as a faculty member and as well as the University’s inaugural Program Coordinator for its new PMHNP program and begin in January 2027 to lead preparations for the program’s May 2027 launch. The standard teaching load is 18 graduate credits or 24 undergraduate credits per year. The compensation for the role of Program Coordinator includes a substantial course release and modest stipend. In addition to teaching, the coordinator will provide academic and administrative leadership, work closely with the Director of Graduate Nursing, and collaborate with faculty and coordinators across the graduate nursing programs. In addition to the standard faculty duties, the Program Coordinator will: Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the PMHNP program, including curriculum, instruction, clinical education, student progression, and program evaluation. Ensure compliance with New York State requirements, professional nursing standards, and applicable accrediting bodies. Coordinate the preparation and submission of accreditation, regulatory, and program assessment reports. Lead student recruitment, admissions support, orientation, advisement, retention, and progression initiatives. Collaborate with clinical partners to support high-quality practicum experiences and maintain appropriate clinical placement standards. Recruit, mentor, and support qualified PMHNP faculty and clinical preceptors. Monitor program outcomes and use data to guide continuous quality improvement. Collaborate with the Director of Graduate Nursing and other graduate program leaders to advance shared academic and strategic priorities. Represent the program at University, professional, accreditation, and community meetings as appropriate.

Required Qualifications Earned doctoral degree in nursing or a related field. Current national board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Current New York State RN and NP licensure, or eligibility to obtain both. Minimum of three years of clinical experience as a PMHNP. Academic teaching experience, preferably at the graduate level. Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and collaborative skills.
