Animal Services Officer (Full-Time, Benefited)

This civilian position will be responsible for working collaboratively with the County of Los Angeles in enforcing animal care and control within Culver City limits.

General duties include investigating complaints, picking up stray and unlicensed animals, examining animal licenses for validity, issuing delinquent notices and citations, canvassing to ensure animals are properly licensed, transporting animals to the local animal shelter, feeding and caring for sheltered animals, and maintaining the kennels. Note: Work schedule may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of full-time paid experience performing animal care or control and working with the public. Within two years of hire, candidates must successfully complete either 30 semester units of college-level course work in Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Zoology or a related field; or 80 hours course work at the State Humane Association's Animal Control Officer Training Academy.

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required. A Penal Code 832 Arrest and Firearms certificate may be required within six months of hire.
