Duration: 10-Month Contract (with possibility of extension/hire)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager – Transportation Initiatives to lead large-scale, complex transportation projects and programs. This individual will serve as a strategic partner to business leaders and cross-functional teams, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

• Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale transportation initiatives from inception through completion.
• Partner with business leaders and project sponsors to define project goals, scope, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
• Drive accountability across project teams to ensure successful delivery against business objectives.
• Identify and manage project interdependencies, dependencies, risks, and opportunities across multiple initiatives.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

• Collaborate with business leaders, sponsors, cross-functional teams, vendors, and external stakeholders.
• Facilitate project governance meetings and provide regular status updates to leadership and stakeholders.
• Prepare executive-level reports, presentations, and communications regarding project progress, risks, and key milestones.
• Support enterprise and external communications related to transportation initiatives.

Risk, Quality & Change Management

• Analyze and proactively mitigate project risks and issues.
• Ensure project deliverables meet organizational standards for quality, performance, and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Support organizational change management efforts and adoption strategies where applicable.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to increase project efficiency and effectiveness.

Transportation Planning & Compliance

• Support transportation planning initiatives through collaboration with planners, engineers, environmental specialists, and community stakeholders.
• Oversee project activities related to transportation infrastructure, fleet management, logistics, and community development initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, environmental, and permitting requirements, including NEPA, CEQA, zoning regulations, and local ordinances where applicable.
• Utilize GIS and project scheduling tools to support planning, reporting, and decision-making processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering, Urban Planning, Transportation, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive project management experience leading large-scale programs and initiatives.
• Proven success managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, timelines, and dependencies.
• Strong experience with project planning, budgeting, resource management, and risk mitigation.
• Exceptional leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent project management certification.
• Change Management certification (Prosci or similar).
• Lean Six Sigma certification and/or experience.
• Experience in Transportation, Fleet Management, Logistics, Infrastructure, Urban Planning, or Community Development .
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Project.
• Experience using project scheduling software and collaboration tools.
• Knowledge of GIS platforms such as ArcGIS and ArcView.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhinoceros 3D, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Knowledge of land use planning, public permitting processes, environmental compliance, and transportation regulations.
