Pharmacy Technician

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for accurately entering prescription or medication orders into the pharmacy computer system to ensure safe dispensing and proper billing. This role supports pharmacists and helps maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.

Shift: Monday - Friday (8:30am-5pm), ONSITE

Responsibilities

• Enter new prescription orders into pharmacy software systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
• Makes requisitions for drugs and supplies with professional guidance from the pharmacist.
  Resolve insurance and billing information
• Enters data into the computer system, recording prescriptions, purchase orders, stock orders, requisitions, and disbursements.
• Identify incomplete or unclear prescriptions
• Communicate with prescribers' offices for clarification
• Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
• Route completed entries to pharmacist for verification
• Document interventions and notes when required

Requirements

• Must be registered in the state of Ohio or nationally certified (PTCB or NHA)
• Strong data entry accuracy
• Knowledge of pharmacy abbreviations (SIG codes)
• Familiarity with brand and generic medications
• Understanding of insurance processing
