Overview

Des Moines Public Schools is seeking a Chief Academic Officer .

Job Summary: Provide leadership and guidance for all teaching and learning, educational and curriculum-related programs, and all district operations.

Qualifications

• Iowa Administrator license with Evaluator Approval or willingness to obtain
• Iowa Superintendent license or willing to obtain within two years
• Master’s Degree with emphasis in curriculum and instruction, education and/or business administration or closely related field.

Highly Qualified

• Doctorate Degree in education.
• Demonstrated success in closing the achievement gap

Salary

Salary Range for this position: $151,611 - $204,630
This represents the minimum to mid-point of the salary range. Candidates offered employment will be compensated based on skills, work experience and education.

Benefits

• Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA): the contribution is 14% of the base salary . An example of $90,000 salary @14% TSA = $12,600 in district contribution to TSA
• Enrollment in IPERS (Iowa Public Employee Retirement System) – a defined benefit plan. IPERS - district contributes 9.44% and the employee contributes 6.29%

Moving expenses paid up to $6,000 , if candidate moves into district boundary

• Family Health Insurance at no cost to the employee during the first plan year of employment (July 1 - June 30) ($600/year after that). • Current Monthly premiums (subject to change effective July 1):

Plan Single Emp+1 Family

Employees pay $50 per month for family dental, with the exception of administrators who pay $54.96 per month

• Family Dental Insurance with a minimal monthly cost ( Single dental insurance coverage at no cost)
• Family Vision Insurance at no cost to the employee
