As a Speech Language Pathologist in our bustling Washington, D.C. community, your work transcends the mere treatment of communication and swallowing disorders. It becomes a powerful journey where you unlock potential, restore self-assurance, and cultivate meaningful connections. From toddlers discovering the joy of speech to elderly individuals reclaiming their independence, your impact will resonate across generations.
This position offers a unique chance to work with diverse individuals throughout all stages of life, blending outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient care. Whether your passion lies in pediatric speech development, addressing adult neurogenic communication challenges, or supporting senior cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation, you'll find fulfillment and ample flexibility in this role.
Your Role
- Conduct evaluations for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients utilizing standardized assessments and observational methods.
- Create tailored treatment plans to meet both immediate and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing needs.
- Administer individualized speech therapy sessions concentrating on communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing.
- Collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nursing staff, physicians, caregivers, and families to foster a cohesive strategy for care.
- Provide education to patients and their families to ensure continued progress beyond therapy sessions.
- Participate in occasional inpatient evaluations and interventions, guaranteeing a seamless continuum of care.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation in line with state, federal, and organizational standards.
- Stay abreast of advancements in the field through ongoing education and peer collaboration.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution.
- Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if you have not yet secured ASHA certification.
Licensure and Certifications
- State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Skills Needed
- Expertise in evidence-based treatment techniques for all age groups, coupled with a deep understanding of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing issues.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, their families, and interdisciplinary clinical teams.
- Adaptability in therapy approaches to cater to various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving prowess.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and state documentation requirements.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary reflective of your experience.
- Flexible scheduling designed to promote a healthy work-life balance alongside a diverse caseload.
- Opportunities to focus on specializations in pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatric care.
- PTO and holiday pay provided.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options available.
- Support for continuing education and your professional growth.
- A collaborative workplace culture centered on quality care and continuous learning.

When you take on this role, you're not merely providing speech therapy; you're joining a mission centered on restoring voices, enhancing communication, and fostering joyful connections. Here, you'll work alongside a community of clinicians who treat one another like family, within an environment that values collaboration over competition. Every patient has a unique story, and we trust you to help craft how it unfolds.
