Attorney - Workers Compensation and Insurance Defense

Job Overview A law firm seeks an Attorney with experience in defending workers' compensation and insurance defense to join their Overland Park, KS office. The firm operates across multiple states and offers a dynamic work environment. Duties Gather and review medical evidence and records. Conduct depositions of claimants, physicians, and experts. Perform legal research and stay updated on legal developments. Draft legal documents including pleadings and motions. Litigate cases before workers' compensation judges. Represent employers or insurers in various legal proceedings. Communicate with claims representatives and monitor reports. Assist in accident investigations and manage costs. Compile and submit management reports. Coordinate and attend claims reviews and negotiate settlements. Requirements J.D. and licensed in Kansas or Missouri. Experience in workers' compensation defense; general litigation is a plus. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Proficiency in legal research techniques and terminology. Experience with Microsoft Word; Time Matters preferred. Maintain firm and client confidentiality. Education Juris Doctor (J.D.) Certifications Licensed to practice law in Kansas or Missouri. Skills Strong legal research and drafting skills. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. Attention to detail and analytical skills. Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance.
