Los Angeles, California, United States Position Title: Construction Manager About the Positions Were seeking Construction Managers to support large, complex heavy civil infrastructure programs, including highways, roads, bridges, transit (bus and rail), aviation (international airports), and water/wastewater projects delivered through both traditional and alternative delivery methods. Youll oversee an assigned construction package or group of contracts from preconstruction through closeout, hold the work to the contract documents, and keep cost, schedule, quality, and safety visible so field issues get resolved before they turn into claims. This post is for future roles and not for a specific opportunity that is available right now. We accept applications and conduct interviews in advance of upcoming hiring needs. When a candidate is selected, their profile is activated in our talent pool for this specialty area. We notify our talent pool candidates first whenever we have a project need. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Note: We are seeking candidates of various skill levels, and the following responsibilities represent the core of these roles. Scope and complexity increase with experience level. Oversee contractor performance across an assigned construction package or group of contracts from preconstruction through closeout, and hold the work to the plans, specifications, and contract requirements. Administer the construction contract, including submittals, requests for information, notices, and correspondence, and keep the record complete enough to stand up under audit and claim review. Evaluate change proposals and contractor pricing for entitlement, technical merit, cost impact, and schedule impact, and recommend a position the program can act on. Review baseline and update schedules for critical path, logic, and sequencing, and quantify the effect of delays and changes on the contract completion date. Coordinate the programs inspection, materials testing, and quality assurance staff, and verify that installed work and submitted quantities match approved documents before payment. Monitor contractor safety and environmental compliance against the contract, permit conditions, and applicable OSHA and agency requirements, and elevate non-conforming conditions to resolution. Track cost, progress, and quantities against the approved budget and schedule, and forecast where the contract lands so the program can act while options are still open. Chair progress meetings, site walks, and issue resolution sessions with the contractor, the designer of record, and third parties, and drive open items to documented closure. Coordinate interfaces with utility owners, railroads, adjacent contracts, and airport or transit operations groups so construction phasing keeps facilities in service. Document field conditions, directives, and determinations, and support the programs response to notices of potential claim and dispute resolution. Oversee closeout, including punch list resolution, record document and as-built turnover, warranty documentation, and support for commissioning and transition to operations and maintenance. Attributes Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills. Collaborative mindset that fosters teamwork, trust, and positive relationships. Natural curiosity, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in construction management, civil engineering, construction engineering, or engineering technology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 10+ years of construction management experience for large (>$500M), complex, heavy-civil infrastructure projects. Experience overseeing contractor performance on behalf of an owner or agency, including field issue resolution and non-conformance follow-through. Experience administering construction contracts, including submittals, requests for information, change orders, and payment applications on publicly funded work. Experience evaluating change proposals and contractor pricing for entitlement, cost impact, and schedule impact. Ability to review CPM schedules for critical path, logic, and sequencing, and to assess the schedule effect of changes and delays. Working knowledge of construction safety and quality assurance requirements on public infrastructure projects, including OSHA construction standards. Experience with industry standard construction management and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Unifier, Kahua, etc.). Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365 (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Preferred Qualifications Masters degree in construction management, civil engineering, construction engineering, or engineering technology. Active professional certifications and licenses such as CCM (CMAA), PMP (PMI), PE, and/or OSHA 30-Hour Construction (OSHA). Experience serving as the owners lead construction manager on a package exceeding $100M in construction value. Experience overseeing construction across multiple concurrent contracts or task orders on a program exceeding $1B in construction value. Experience overseeing a highway, roadway, or bridge package, including structural work such as deep foundations, falsework, and girder erection. Experience overseeing construction in an active rail transit corridor, on an operating airport, or at a water or wastewater treatment or conveyance facility. Experience leading construction management and inspection staff on an owners program team, including inspector assignment and performance feedback. Proficiency with Microsoft Power BI, Oracle Cloud Analytics, or other dashboard KPI reporting software. Compensation Details Expected Salary: $130k-$200k/year ($63-$96/hour).
