Customer Service Supervisor

Purpose This position is responsible for the creative workflow process for cashiering, handling product returns, performing basic cash office functions, and providing every customer with an exceptional shopping experience. In addition, it is responsible for training and developing Customer Service Associates. Responsibilities Act as a member of the store Junior Management Team and work consistently with the company’s core values. Demonstrate thorough understanding and compliance with the company’s safe‑lifting practices and standard operating procedures. Provide direction to all Customer Service Associates to ensure highly attentive and accurate customer service. Greet every customer in a helpful and courteous manner. Process customers at checkout using the point‑of‑sale (POS) system. Handle customer refunds and exchanges according to established guidelines. Open and close registers, following established cash, check and charge‑card acceptance procedures. Answer telephone calls according to accepted guidelines. Stock and tag merchandise displays, create price tags and merchandise signs as required. Review and assess associate performance in a timely manner. Train, develop, supervise and define workload for associates. Monitor associate retention and career development; communicate ideas to the General Manager. Address and document unsatisfactory performance and policy violations through disciplinary action and performance counseling. Ensure compliance with scheduling, hiring, payroll and business planning processes. Monitor, maintain and follow company policies; support company expectations and systems. Qualifications Minimum one year of customer service/cashier supervisory experience. Proven ability to direct operations in a high‑volume, highly complex location. Self‑starter with initiative and ability to adapt to change with a sense of urgency. Proficiency in training associates and exercising independent discretion and judgment in supervising a fast‑paced environment. Excellent communication, delegation, follow‑up and analytical skills. Working Conditions The employee will frequently be exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. Noise levels are typically quiet to moderate. Physical/Sensory Requirements: Ability to exert 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. May need to use hands and fingers, stand, walk, reach with arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
