Diesel Mechanic
Trillium Drivers is now hiring experienced generator or diesel mechanics in the Dallas area!
This role consists of working out of town for about 4 weeks at a time and coming home for 4 weeks Mon-Sun. Morning and night shifts are available depending on the job, 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am. Pay is between $25/hour-$40/hourly plus OT after 40 hours. Hotel or Air B & B is paid for by the company, and you will also receive per diem to help out with food expense.
Key responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance on standby and mobile diesel generators, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and control system issues, utilizing computer diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot faults and monitor performance, conducting load bank testing and operational checks, installing and commissioning generators, transfer switches, and associated equipment, responding to scheduled service calls and emergency breakdowns, maintaining detailed service reports, work orders, and documentation, communicating with dispatch and customers regarding job status and recommendations, following all company and site-specific safety procedures, and keeping service vehicle, tools, and test equipment in clean, safe working condition.
Required qualifications include 2+ years' experience as a generator technician, diesel mechanic, or similar role, strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, and controls, proficiency with computer-based diagnostic tools, ability to read wiring diagrams, fault codes, and service manuals, valid driver's license with clean driving record, ability to pass background check and drug screening, comfortable working independently in the field, and strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred qualifications include experience with brands such as Cummins, Caterpillar, Kohler, Generac, John Deere, MTU, experience with ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches), load bank testing experience, OEM certifications or factory training, and experience with mobile rental or event power systems.
