Lead Bartender

Black Briar is a Bold American Tavern built on live-fire cooking, a serious raw bar, and hospitality that runs deeper than service. We are opening in Chicago's West Loop and building something meant to last - a restaurant with institutional character, operational discipline, and a genuine point of view.

The Role: 
A  lead bartender delivers exceptional hospitality by crafting high-quality beverages, managing open tabs accurately, and maintaining a welcoming, sanitary bar environment. The lead bartender oversees the stock of beer, food, and bar supplies and will also be responsible for opening and closing duties, inventory maintenance, and helping the company fulfill its business goals.

What You Own: 
Job Summary

• Must communicate effectively with customers and help them with their food and beverage selection
• Liquor, beer, and wine knowledge
• Craft cocktail knowledge 
• Professional and enthusiastic attitude
• Execute server orders 
• Ensure cleanliness of bar area, set up and stock bar for start of shift 
• Understand the needs of the business and take initiative on projects to fulfill business goals.
• Assist in providing ongoing support to the front of house team

• Extensive knowledge of drink preparation or service.
• Ability to multitask.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving customers.
• Attention to detail and strong time management skills.
• Ensure cleanliness of bar area, set up and stock bar for start of shift 
• Ability to work a variable schedule, including weekends.
• Good judgment skills and adaptive attitude
