Job Title HSOM-Open Rank-Medicine-Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology Assignment Category Full-Time Rank Open Rank Payroll Status Faculty 12 Job Description The Division of Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking clinician educators in basic mechanisms of rheumatic and autoimmune diseases for Instructor of Medicine (non‑tenure earning), Assistant Professor of Medicine (tenure‑earning and non‑tenure earning), Associate Professor of Medicine (non‑tenure earning, tenure‑earning, and tenured), and Professor (non‑tenure earning, tenure‑earning, and tenured) positions. The Division is a top‑ranked program with exceptional strengths in a broad array of clinical areas, including rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, scleroderma, osteoporosis, and other diseases. The Division is affiliated with the UAB Comprehensive Arthritis, Musculoskeletal, Bone, and Autoimmunity Center, which draws together multidisciplinary teams, providing an unusually rich environment for collaborations and development of shared resources. UAB has superb infrastructure for clinical and basic research and particularly strong programs in genetics, outcomes research, and basic immunology. The Division is building on these strengths through expanded patient cohorts to foster clinical and translational research. Positions Clinician educators (rheumatologists) focused on clinical care and teaching. Clinical investigators with interests in epidemiology, outcomes, and/or testing experimental therapeutics in rheumatic and autoimmune diseases. PhD investigators and physician‑scientists interested in fundamental mechanisms of arthritis and autoimmunity in humans and animal models. Required Qualifications MD, PhD, or similar doctoral degree. Physicians must be board certified or board eligible in Rheumatology and eligible for medical licensure in the State of Alabama. Preferred Qualifications None specified.
