Mechanical Pipefitter

Overview The Pipefitter is responsible for working on commercial mechanical projects ranging from office buildings and hotels to hospitals and institutional facilities, handling layout, assembly, installation, and maintenance of mechanical piping systems and pipe supports. Responsibilities Read and understand isometric drawings. Layout, miter fittings, and fabricate branch saddles. Fit open butt-weld and socket-weld joints. Qualifications Experience assembling and installing a variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic. Understand mechanical contract drawings and shop drawings. Work effectively with a team of 2-5 people. Experience with mechanical pipe systems (carbon steel). Knowledge of pipe fittings. Ability to tack. Must have required tools for proper pipe fit‑up. Work with other pipe materials such as copper and hangers. Understand proper piping support requirements. Team player. Willing to work overtime. Skilled in connecting pipes using threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, solvent‑welded joints, pressed and grooved. Secure pipes to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand tools and power tools. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Detail‑oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast‑paced environment. Versed in industry and company’s competitors. Ability to multitask and perform duties outside scope when necessary. Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications N/A Travel Requirements 0-5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location. Physical/Work Environment Requirements Use oxygen and acetylene rig to cut and bevel pipe, angle iron, brackets, etc. Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and/or poles. Climbing stairs. Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Operating machinery and/or power tools. Outdoor elements such as precipitation, heat, cold, and/or wind. Noisy environment.
