DOE Job Overview Provides or assists with direct nursing care of all patients under the direction of a registered nurse within the Emergency Services or Critical Care units. Area of Assignment Emergency Department or Critical Care unit. Reporting To Unit Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Registered Nurse. Prerequisites Completion of an accredited Maternity or Nursing assistant (MA) program and actively pursuing a nursing degree. BLS certification. Ability to communicate effectively in English. If performing non‑waived testing, evidence of a high‑school diploma, GED certificate, college transcript, or a license issued by the Washington State Department of Health. Unit‑specific prerequisites – see addendum. General Qualifications Good interpersonal communication skills with a diverse population. Ability to learn tasks, handle responsibility, and follow directions. Customer‑service orientation in a diverse environment. Ability to communicate and work effectively with all age groups. Physical / Mental Demands See Generic Job Description for Clinical Support Partner. Performance Responsibilities Assist in the direct nursing care of all patients under RN direction. Transport or escort patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, including support equipment such as IV pumps and oxygen tanks. Clean and stock treatment areas, patient rooms, instruments, and equipment, and restock supplies and linen. Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, equipment, and supplies per hospital policy. Clean and stock linen cart, blanket warmer, medicine room refrigerator, dirty utility room, employee lounge, and other assigned areas. Check and maintain equipment such as BP cuffs, flashlights, suction heads, restraints, and specialty carts (Cast, OD, Burn, Eye, Pelvic, Trauma, Difficult Intubation, Line). Replace missing items. Conduct monthly clean‑ups of cupboards, drawers, and all rooms. Daily check outdated supplies and complete check lists for supplies and equipment each shift. Assist with admitting duties and documentation as needed. Coordinate daily activities with the charge nurse or zone lead. Unit‑Specific Requirements – Emergency Services Completion of an accredited MA, Emergency Department Technician program, or CNA with active Washington State Nursing Assistant – Certified license. Actively pursuing a nursing degree, or EMT or Paramedic with field experience. EMT or Paramedic must hold an active Washington State Registered Nursing Assistant License (RNA) before employment. One year of experience in a CNA or EMT field is recommended. Unit‑Specific Requirements – Critical Care Unit Previous critical‑care experience required.
