Production Maintenance Mechanic

This role focuses on maintenance of production equipment to support manufacturing operations. Responsibilities Troubleshoot, dismantle, repair, relocate, modify, maintain, align, overhaul, and install fixed and semi-fixed production machinery and equipment. Ensure equipment is repaired and maintained in accordance with diagrams, manuals, and manufacturer specifications. Perform scheduled and unplanned work, including Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance, on a wide variety of equipment and systems. Identify and report low-performing or failing systems for pre-emptive corrective actions or upgrade suggestions. Support implementation of upgrades and new engineering/maintenance projects. Take actions to ensure equipment and/or environment is safe and compliant with applicable laws, codes, and policies. Identify needed equipment, parts, and supplies to complete repairs. Coordinate with manufacturing departments to perform work in a timely manner. May conduct root cause analyses. Adhere strictly to procedures and practices according to FDA regulations and maintain strong documentation. Adhere to departmental safety policies. Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. Trade School, Vocational Certificate, Associate Degree, or Military training in related field is highly preferred. Minimum of 2 years of hands-on maintenance experience with manufacturing/production equipment; pharmaceutical, GMP, or FDA-regulated environments preferred. Equivalency: in lieu of 2 years of experience, an Associate Degree or Vocational Certification in Mechanical Engineering or related field may be substituted. Basic understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Able to fabricate, renovate, and weld parts using shop equipment; able to repair and rebuild machinery. Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems is a plus. Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude; ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, P&ID drawings, and schematics. Knowledge of safe and proper use of hand, power, and measuring tools and basic shop equipment. Ability to read, write, and speak English; proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); SAP & AMMS experience preferred. Flexible with working hours/shifts to accommodate 24/7 plant operation; on-call rotation may be required. Occupational Demands Work is performed in a manufacturing environment or warehouse with rotating shifts. Exposure to biological fluids and potential exposure to infectious organisms; exposure to chemicals, electrical equipment, hand tools, and moving machinery. Operates forklifts, tractors, and power equipment. Exposure to high noise levels, dust, fumes, and extreme temperatures (below 32°F and above 100°F). Requires climbing, kneeling, crawling, squatting, working at heights, and occasional confined spaces. PPE such as safety eyewear, chemical suits, safety shoes, gloves, hearing protection, and respirators may be required. Heavy lifting up to 75 lbs with routine lifting up to 45 lbs; standing, walking, bending, and twisting for extended periods. Fine motor movements, multiple tasks, and attention to detail are essential. The estimated pay range for Production Maintenance Mechanic role in California is $31.24 to $36.00 per hour. The position is eligible for up to 5% of the company bonus pool, and a benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO, paid holidays, up to 5% 401(k) match, and tuition reimbursement.
