Role: Security Research Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON Hybrid

Employment Type: FULL-TIME FTE

Must Have Technical Skills:



Strong hands-on software development experience with Python and one or more of Java, Go, Node.js, C/C++.
Experience with AI/ML, LLMs, Generative AI, Agentic AI, AI Agents, Tool Calling, and AI Orchestration Frameworks.
Strong knowledge of AI Security, Application Security, Vulnerability Research, Threat Modeling, Secure Development, Network Security, Infrastructure Security, and Security Architecture.
Experience building security prototypes, POCs, experiments, automation, and research harnesses.
Experience integrating LLMs, AI agents, APIs, security tools, cloud platforms, containers, and automation frameworks.
Ability to research emerging cybersecurity technologies and convert concepts into working code and enterprise recommendations.
Strong technical documentation, research, and presentation skills.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Research, prototype, evaluate, and operationalize emerging cybersecurity technologies.
Build Agentic AI security harnesses, prototypes, and POCs for emerging cyber capabilities.



Research AI Security, Agentic AI, Application Security, Quantum/PQC, Blockchain, and other emerging technologies.
Develop and integrate AI agents, LLMs, APIs, security tools, automation, and test environments.
Conduct hands-on evaluation and technical due diligence of cybersecurity products, tools, and startups.
Validate vendor claims and assess security, scalability, integration complexity, and enterprise applicability.
Design experiments, benchmark technologies, analyze results, and provide technical recommendations.
Transition successful research prototypes toward operational enterprise use.
Present technical findings and recommendations to engineering teams, cybersecurity leadership, and investment stakeholders.

Preferred / Highly Valued:
Experience with AI Red Teaming, Autonomous Penetration Testing, Agent Security, or AI-native Security Tooling.
Cybersecurity startup, founder, or early-stage product experience.
Experience presenting or pitching technical solutions to VC, corporate venture teams, accelerators, or investment stakeholders.
Research publications, patents, open-source security projects, or vulnerability research.
Conference presentations or research papers in cybersecurity, AI, or systems.
Certifications such as CISSP, OSCP, CSSLP, or equivalent.

Education:
Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, AI, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred.
PhD is a plus.
