As a SUPERVISORY SECURITY SPECIALIST , as the Branch Chief Identity Credential & Access Mgmt Branch and an advisor to the Mission Assurance Division Chief, Deputy Chief on special security programs that support classified and unclassified national security services and secure facilities across USCIS.

Duties

Help

• Manages the planning, interpretation, development, and implementation of various security policies and practices that have a direct impact on USCIS secure facilities, identity management operations, and the assurance of the immigration mission.
• Exercises strong leadership, good judgment, and diplomacy, and displays ability to assess issues adversely affecting USCIS or its programs and bring these issues to the attention of the appropriate leadership and stakeholders.
• Leads and manages the development, promulgation, implementation, and maintenance of PIV management services,
  administrative security, and special security regulations and directives.
• Determines the applicability and effect of new or proposed legislation, executive orders, directives, events, and other
  leadership decisions on Branch resource requirements.
• Oversees and manages secure facility builds, accreditations, renovations and access to ensure assets and operations are in compliance with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) directives, Departmental, and agency priorities.

Residency Requirement : There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas.

Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a twelve-month probationary period upon appointment to this position. You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 06/29/2026.

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 06/29/2026.

GS-14 : You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the ALL of the following duties:

• Serving as a technical expert for the design and implementation of critical programs and identify management projects;
• Requires comprehensive knowledge of policies impacting the agency in areas such as national security information (NSI), classification and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) management, threat management, secure facility requirements, and countermeasures;
• Applies a wide range of security concepts, principles, practices, laws, and regulations to the planning, organizing, directing, operating, and evaluation of multiple agency-wide programs, impacting overall readiness and operations of the agency;
• Manages the planning, interpretation, development, and implementation of various security policies and practices that directly impact USCIS secure facilities, identity management operations, and the assurance of the immigration mission.
