This role will support a fast-paced project through consulting, design, review, and field oversight activities at a large semiconductor facility in North Phoenix. The position requires technical depth, sound judgment, and the ability to interface effectively with clients. The successful candidate will contribute to the planning, design, review, and implementation of automatic sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and related suppression systems, while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, Consulting, and Technical OversightLead or support the design and layout of automatic fire sprinkler systems for a variety of facility types in accordance with NFPA standards, local codes, and project requirementsGenerate fire suppression specifications for water-based fire protection systemsPerform or review hydraulic calculations, material take-offs, and system sizing, including fire pumps and controllersReview, evaluate, and prepare sprinkler, fire pump, and/or special suppression system shop drawing submittal packagesProject Execution and Field ActivitiesAct as the owner’s representative for fire protection systems during design, construction, and commissioning phasesConduct field surveys, inspections, and regular site walks to verify installation quality, fire safety, and code complianceSupport testing, commissioning, system acceptance, and emergent site needs, including witnessing tests and providing code interpretationsCoordinate with AHJs to support permitting, reviews, and project approvalsClient, Contractor, and Team CoordinationProvide technical consulting and guidance to clients, project managers, contractors, architects, and engineersPlan, direct, or execute fire protection–related engineering activities with a high level of contractor engagementAssess, review, and approve contractor bids, change orders, and work costs related to fire protection systemsPrepare, present, and deliver clear, technically sound reports and recommendations to clientsQuality, Compliance, and LeadershipSupport companywide QA/QC reviews to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with codes and standardsMentor and support the professional development of junior designers, engineers, and consultants, as appropriate to levelMinimum RequirementsFive (5) or more years of experience in fire protection system design or consulting, with emphasis on automatic sprinkler systems and fire pump designProficiency with industry-standard design and calculation tools such as AutoCAD, REVIT, HydraCAD, SprinkCAD, or similar softwarePreferred QualificationsStrong working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NFPA 13, 14, 20, and/or 25.NICET Water-Based Systems Layout Certification preferred; NICET Level II or higher strongly preferredStrong working knowledge of NFPA codes, life safety standards, and local jurisdictional requirementsExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including strong technical report writingStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting client and schedule commitmentsAdditional ConsiderationsCandidates with significant industry experience in fire protection design, inspection, or code consulting are desired.
