We are seeking a Project Surveyor who enjoys solving complex boundary and mapping challenges, takes ownership of their work, and is committed to delivering high-quality surveying services from project kickoff through final deliverables. The Project Surveyor serves as a key member of our technical team, working closely with the Principal Surveyor to research, analyze, manage, and deliver a wide variety of surveying projects. This position is primarily office-based but includes occasional field work to support project needs, collaborate with field crews, verify survey evidence, and maintain a practical understanding of field operations. The role also provides opportunities to share technical knowledge, support the development of junior staff, and help strengthen the technical capabilities of our growing team. Key Responsibilities Manage Survey Projects Coordinate projects from initial research through final deliverables. Research and interpret deeds, subdivision maps, Records of Survey, easements, title reports, and other record documents. Analyze boundary evidence and develop boundary determinations for review by the Principal Surveyor. Identify project challenges early and recommend practical, efficient solutions. Coordinate with field crews to ensure complete and accurate data collection. Assist with project scheduling, workload management, and client communication. Prepare Survey Deliverables Prepare Record of Survey maps, Corner Records, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, boundary exhibits, legal descriptions, topographic mapping, construction staking calculations, and other survey deliverables. Produce accurate CAD drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D. Perform quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Prepare agency submittals and client deliverables in accordance with applicable standards and regulations. Support Field Operations Perform occasional field work as needed to support project demands, assist field crews, or verify survey evidence. Coordinate closely with survey crews to promote efficient project execution and seamless field-to-office workflows. Assist in resolving field questions and evaluating boundary evidence when necessary. Help maintain consistency between field procedures and final deliverables. Collaborate, Mentor & Support the Team Collaborate with field and office staff to deliver exceptional surveying services. Share technical knowledge and best practices with team members to support their professional development. Assist with onboarding and training new employees on company workflows, standards, and software as opportunities arise. Provide guidance and constructive feedback while fostering a collaborative learning environment. Communicate professionally with clients, title companies, engineers, architects, public agencies, contractors, and property owners. Help improve drafting standards, templates, workflows, and internal procedures. Utilize modern surveying technology and software to improve efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of quality. Stay current with California surveying laws, standards, and industry best practices. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications Five or more years of progressively responsible land surveying experience. Strong understanding of California boundary surveying principles and land surveying practice. Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D. Ability to interpret deeds, legal descriptions, subdivision maps, Records of Survey, title reports, and construction plans. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications California LSIT certification or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license. Experience preparing Record of Survey maps, Corner Records, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, legal descriptions, and boundary exhibits. Experience with Trimble Business Center and Trimble survey workflows. Familiarity with GNSS, robotic total stations, and modern survey technology.
