About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, CPI (can be obtained on-site) Must-Have: Comfortability to units as needed. Strong interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively. Solid written and oral communication skills. Ability to tolerate moderate to high stress levels. Experience reading telemetry strips. Skills in chest tubes, tracheostomies, PIV starts, drain and tube care, PCA pumps, and medication management. Description: The unit has 26 beds with a focus on general medicine and behavioral health diagnoses. Patient demographics include conditions such as diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory illnesses, renal disorders, and wounds. The average length of stay is less than 24 hours with prioritized testing. Staffing ratios are 1 RN to 6 patients in the general medicine unit and 1 RN to 5 patients in the behavioral health unit. Support staff includes CNAs and a rapid response team available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is centralized within the department. The electronic medical record system utilized is Epic. Equipment includes IV pumps and medication dispensing systems. The culture is patient-centered, emphasizes reliability, and fosters strong teamwork.
