About the PositionThe Team Lead - Electrical Engineer - Industrial Power will manage a team comprised of engineers, drafters, designers, and/or technicians predominately servicing industrial clients. A Team Leads primary responsibility will be the accurate, timely, and quality completion of Electrical Engineering scopes assigned to the team. The Team Lead will assist in the development of the departments Standard Best Practices (SBPs) and enforcing/implementing them when pertinent. Team Leads will be a mentor and coach to team members on their team and help them grow individually as professionals.This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, Colorado) and full-time remote candidates.Essential ResponsibilitiesPerforms detailed design of all aspects of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, selection of equipment, writing of equipment specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project schedulingPrepares computer-based models and perform power system studies on industrial/commercial electrical power transmission and distribution systems, including short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, motor starting, power factor, harmonic analysis, and other related studies. Team Member should create a simple hand checks to quantify the computer aided resultsDevelops protective relay settings. Set, test, wire, and install relaying and control systemsProgram, install, and test SCADA and PLC systemsPrepares a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, proposals, and studiesReviews equipment data sheets, manuals, and testing reports for design and approvalsSeeks opportunities for value engineering and efficiencies in designAssigns work to and coordinates work with entry-level engineers, technicians, or administrative staffReviews and verifies the work of engineers, designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracyManages and support team member development and growth through individualized development plansSupports business development via Seller-Doer, assists with marketing tasks, and prepares proposals as neededAssists with establishing and managing engineering budget and scope expectations. Prepare technical write-up for applicable change ordersReviews submittals for conformance with client specifications and designProvides field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reportsMaintains professional understanding of all applicable Codes and Standards, and construction practicesMaintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships, particularly for communication pertaining to specific assignments and meeting topicsMaintains high ethical and professional standardsWorks additional time beyond 40 hours/week to complete projects, proposals and/or administrative functions, as requiredAttends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of workChecking the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as requiredUnderstanding and applications of applicable Codes and Standards.Attends safety training and follow safety rules and guidelinesOther job-related responsibilities as assignedMust HaveExperience: 5+ years of engineering or relevant field experienceEducation: Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferredLicensure: PE preferredProfessional, articulate, and able to exercise good independent judgement and discretionHighly organized, motivated self-starterProven record of delivering a high standard of quality work with attention to detailComfortable working with limited information to create system designs and plansFlexible and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment with a quickly growing teamGood interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills; ability to interact successfully at all levels of the organization; high emotional intelligenceAbility to develop staff through mentoring and coachingA strong command of the English languageA strong written and verbal command of the English languageApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basisNice to HaveProficiency with AutoCADProficiency with power system software such as DIgSILENT/PowerFactory, EasyPower, ETAP or SKM, CDEGS, and CYMCAP preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and standard computer softwareWorking ConditionsWork Environment:Work is performed in an office setting and some field work is also requiredTravel:Minimal: 10 20%Physical Activities:Must be able to lift 50lbs.Managerial Responsibility:Team Lead is responsible for managing their own work and the work and schedule of their team, with input from supervisor, and completing assigned tasks. The Team Lead will mentor, coach, and develop the team members on their team toward fulfilling their individual career aspirations.Team Lead is responsible for the overall quality of project deliverables and quality of teams work.
