Field Worker/HelperAs a Field Worker/Helper, you will provide support on external plant (OSP) telecommunications construction projects, both aerial and underground, in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The work may include fiber optic installation to the home (FTTH), conduit and access chamber construction, trenching, plow laying, horizontal directional drilling (HDD), micro-trenching, vacuum excavation, and cable laying and installation by pulling and blowing, aerial construction, pole work, and installation of service drops, depending on project and site requirements. You will follow the instructions of the Foreman or Supervisor to perform field tasks safely and efficiently. Assist with shovel excavation, brush clearing, cleaning the work area, landscaping, vehicle washing, loading and unloading, and handling materials. Monitor excavation work to avoid damage or strikes to existing utilities. Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment. Operate or assist with trucks, trailers, and equipment as trained. Learn required procedures related to inventory, tools, equipment, and the workplace. Safely climb poles once you have received the corresponding training and certification.About you: You are a person who prioritizes safety, responsible, and comfortable working outdoors in demanding conditions. You take pride in doing quality work, enjoy solving problems, and are willing to learn new skills as part of a practical and collaborative team. Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a DOT medical card (applicants will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and must meet the company’s safe driving standards). Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds (approximately 32 kg). Ability to read maps, blueprints, diagrams, and schematics. Certification for aerial work or related experience is preferred; mandatory for assignments involving pole work. Experience in external plant (OSP) fiber optic construction, both aerial and underground, is preferred. Knowledge of aerial installation materials, safety distance codes, and network design is preferred. Certification as a traffic flagger or ability to obtain it when necessary is preferred.
