About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days EOW, First to Float Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience reading basic telemetry strips, experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, experience with CVA and TIA patients. Description: Unit is a telemetry unit focusing on surgical and neuro patients. It has a total of 48 beds across two units. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:5. Common patient diagnoses include COVID, respiratory issues, GI conditions, diabetes, TIA, and CVA. Patients also include general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical cases. RN responsibilities include interpreting telemetry strips and signing them at least once per shift. Telemetry is monitored remotely. Monitor techs on-site read and post strips, while RNs interpret them. Charge nurses do not take patient assignments. Nurse aides are present on the unit with a ratio of 1:10-15. Available equipment includes Bipap, Cpap, high flow devices, and some respiratory treatments. Shifts are 12 hours starting at 7 AM and ending at 7:30 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Scheduling is done using a self-scheduling system, which is finalized by the manager. RNs are required to work two weekends per 4-week schedule. Holiday requirements include working during Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving. Floating to other units may be required, depending on qualifications. Scrub color is navy blue. There is one shift of unit-specific orientation.
