Job DescriptionPerform in-process, first article, and final inspections on machined components and assembliesInterpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirementsInspect tight-tolerance and critical features on precision machined componentsUse inspection, measurement, and test equipment (IMTE) such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, and indicatorsOperate and utilize vision systems for non-contact measurement and feature verificationRun and/or support CMM inspections using programs developed in PC-DMISVerify failed or out-of-tolerance CMM features by:Re-measuring using alternate methods (manual tools, vision systems, or re-alignment)Identifying potential programming, alignment, or fixturing issuesUse molding/replication putty (e.g., silicone or comparable compounds) to:Capture internal or inaccessible featuresEnable indirect measurement of complex geometriesValidate dimensions that cannot be directly probed or visually inspectedIdentify, document, and segregate nonconforming material in accordance with MRB proceduresComplete inspection reports and documentation accurately (FAI, in-process, final inspection records)Verify traceability, material certifications, and documentation complianceSupport root cause analysis and corrective actions related to measurement discrepanciesMaintain cleanliness and organization of inspection areas and equipmentEnsure proper handling and protection of precision componentsSupport internal and external audits (ISO 9001 / AS9100 / customer audits)Communicate inspection results and discrepancies clearly to production, engineering, and quality teamsQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred3–5 years of inspection experience in precision machining, aerospace, or manufacturingStrong understanding of blueprint reading and GD&TExperience using precision measuring instruments (IMTE)Experience with vision inspection systems (preferred)Experience verifying CMM results and troubleshooting measurement discrepancies (preferred)Experience using replication/molding techniques for inspection (preferred)Familiarity with AS9100 / ISO 9001 quality systems preferredExperience with CMM operation (preferred)Skills & CompetenciesStrong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to inspect tight-tolerance machined featuresAbility to evaluate difficult-to-access features using indirect methodsAnalytical thinking and problem-solvingAbility to validate and challenge automated inspection results (CMM/vision systems)Effective communication and teamworkBasic computer skills for documentation and reportingAbility to work in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environmentWorking ConditionsShop floor and inspection lab environmentStanding for extended periodsHandling small, tight-tolerance machined componentsOccasional lifting of parts or fixturesAbility to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.For candidates based in Minnesota: The pay range for this position is $19.33 – $32.84 per hour, plus 10% differential.Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure, and relevant education or training. The pay scale is subject to change depending on business needs.
