JOB SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Technician I is the entry, developmental, and training level of the Pharmacy Technician Job Family that performs, under supervision of a pharmacist, non-sterile compounding, and central pharmacy operations including preparing medication doses, and responding to nursing requests. Demonstrates a basic understanding of the responsibilities regarding medication and pharmacy operations. This position assists the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services (e.g. processing prescriptions) in compliance with applicable State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Functions include those allowed by the Board of Pharmacy and are always checked before the product is released from the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician works under close supervision. Performs entry level work for a minimum of 6 months to about one year (regardless of years of experience gained elsewhere).

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

* Compounds non-sterile, non-hazardous drugs and repackages medications using pharmaceutical mathematic calculations for pharmacist approval.

* Inventories supplies by checking for shortages, rotating stock, and removing expired medications.

* Accurately prepares and distributes medications.

* Documents compounding and medications in computer systems.

* Runs basic pharmacy operation reports.

* Responds to nursing requests by distributing doses to patients, successfully following security protocols.

* Performs basic controlled substance distribution and delivery.

* Fills medication trays and ensures accuracy.

* Utilizes pharmacy resources for accurate documentation. Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience: None required.

License/Certification:

• Intern Pharmacist by California Board of Pharmacy
• or
• Pharmacy Technician by California Board of Pharmacy

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $40.91 to $45.63
