Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Critical Care Physician Assistant to join a collaborative ICU team as a responding clinician. This is a non-procedural role , focused on patient management, care coordination, and working closely with attending physicians and fellows.

Assignment Details:

• Start Date: August 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks (with extension potential)
• Schedule: Full-time with rotating day & night shifts
• Shift Options:
  • Day: 6:00 AM 7:00 PM
  • Night: 6:00 PM 7:00 AM
• Includes rotational weekends & holidays
• Minimum 2 weekend shifts/month (Friday nights count as weekend)
• No Call Required

Practice Setting:

• ICU within a prestigious teaching hospital
• 10-bed unit with average daily census of 7 patients
• Adult and geriatric patient population

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Function as a responding clinician in the ICU
• Participate in morning and afternoon rounds with attending physicians
• Carry out care plans, manage patient progress, and coordinate treatments
• Collaborate with physicians, fellows, and fellow APPs
• Ensure accurate documentation using Epic EMR

Scope of Practice:

• Manage bread & butter ICU and Med-Surg cases
• Exposure to limited burn patients (1 2 cases)
• No procedures required:
  • No intubations
  • No central lines
  • No ventilator management
  • No transplants or complex neuro cases
• Focus purely on clinical decision-making and patient management

Team Structure:

• Work alongside 4 APPs
• Day Shift: Supervised by attending physicians
• Night Shift: Supervised by fellows/attendings
• Balanced environment with autonomy + strong support

Technology:

• Epic EMR (required experience)

Requirements:

• Board Certified Physician Assistant (Critical Care/Acute Care)
• Active Massachusetts License (in hand) no licensing support
• DEA Certification required
• BLS & ACLS Certifications required
• Minimum 2+ years of critical care experience
• Recent Epic EMR experience required
• Must be within local commuting distance
