Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, MICU

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) within the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide advanced, family-centered care to critically ill pediatric patients with complex medical conditions, collaborating closely with attending physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other members of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. You will perform comprehensive assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, develop and adjust evidence-based treatment plans, perform procedures within your scope of practice, and participate in rapid response and code situations to support the sickest children in the hospital.

Working in our state-of-the-art MICU, you will use advanced monitoring and life-support technologies, contribute to daily rounds, and communicate clearly with patients’ families to explain care plans, goals of therapy, and expected outcomes. You will help coordinate transitions of care within the hospital and to outside facilities, ensuring continuity, safety, and adherence to best practices. Documentation of clinical findings and plans in the electronic medical record will be timely, accurate, and aligned with institutional standards and regulatory requirements.

You will work a full-time schedule that may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays to support 24/7 MICU coverage, with expectations for flexibility as patient volumes and acuity change.
