The Opportunity

This full-time Accounting Operations Associate is central to the Maury, Donnelly, & Parr, Inc. (MDP) enterprise. Based out of the Cockeysville, MD office- the individual in this role will manage the high-volume shared inbox, overall internal communication, payment processing, & business flow of the Accounting Department.

*This position is considered full-time, in-person for the 1st 90 days/ probationary period and then there's opportunity to transition to a hybrid schedule*

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage Accounting inbox
• Manage payment related communications with carriers and finance companies
• Process carrier and vendor checks, ACHs and wires daily
• Pay carriers with multiple policies, review their premiums and their commission
• Review and import positive pay files
• Ensure accurate reconciliation and prompt remittance to carrier partners (up to 10+ a day)
• Work with Account Executives to address and correct billing discrepancies
• Advise Service teams on proper billing procedures and resolutions
• Ensure taxes are paid accurately (MDP Paid vs. Carrier paid)
• Return premiums to insureds

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ideal prior insurance broker or insurance company experience
• Computer skills required: Applied Systems: Epic Online Database software; Microsoft Office Suite
• Exceptional technology skills, which include but are not limited to: sorting through system reports, along with analyzing data in Microsoft Excel

• Work with the Accounting team to support the overall firm

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Occasionally required to stand/walk; frequently required to sit; continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity and to talk or hear. Normal office environment.

PAY RANGE:

• $50,000-$70,000

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At MDP, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is presented within this posting.
