Construction Superintendent

We’re a 100% employee-owned construction manager and general contractor with a strong pipeline of technically challenging work, and we’re looking for an experienced Superintendent to help lead life sciences construction in North Carolina's Research Triangle. What you'll actually be doing: Leading daily field operations on pharmaceutical, cGMP cleanroom, laboratory, biotechnology, life science, and process manufacturing projects Coordinating subcontractors, site logistics, manpower, and sequencing of work Reading and interpreting complex MEP drawings, process piping layouts, HVAC systems, controls, and technical submittals Developing and maintaining 3-week look-ahead schedules and keeping critical activities moving Coordinating utility tie-ins, shutdowns, and other high-impact field activities Maintaining a strong safety culture and enforcing EHS requirements, cleanroom protocols, and cGMP standards Working closely with Project Managers, engineers, commissioning agents, equipment vendors, and trade partners Supporting commissioning and startup activities Maintaining accurate daily reports, RFIs, safety documentation, and field change information using project software (e.g., Procore) Identifying potential problems early and working with the project team to find solutions before they impact the schedule What we're looking for: 5+ years of experience as a lead Construction Superintendent Experience with life sciences, pharmaceutical, laboratory, medical, or other high-tech construction Strong understanding of MEP systems, HVAC filtration, process piping, gas lines, and cleanroom environments Ability to read and understand complex construction drawings and specifications Experience coordinating multiple specialized trades on active jobsites Strong communication, organization, and field leadership skills OSHA 30 required First Aid/CPR and cGMP training preferred Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project Degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred—but equivalent field experience is absolutely valued Why McGrath? 100% employee-owned – when McGrath succeeds, our employee-owners share in that success Strong project pipeline – work on technically challenging projects with respected clients Field-driven culture – we understand that successful projects start with strong leadership in the field Team approach – our Superintendents and Project Managers work together to solve problems and deliver quality work Competitive benefits – company-paid health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) match and Roth option Paid time off A company where your experience, ideas, and leadership matter If you're an experienced Superintendent who understands the coordination and attention to detail required on complex life sciences projects—and you're looking for a company where you can take ownership of your work,we'd like to talk.
