Overview

(This is an in-store during business hours position) The HR Generalist will manage core human resources functions, with a strong emphasis on ADP WorkforceNow payroll, benefits administration, recruitment, onboarding, training and development coordination, and employee engagement. This role is ideal for a hands-on HR professional who enjoys working in a dynamic retail environment and is comfortable serving as the organization's primary HR resource. This is a part-time position that will fluctuate between 25 and 35 hours depending on work demands.

Role

The HR Generalist is responsible for executing day-to-day human resources operations. This position manages payroll administration through ADP Workforce Now, oversees benefit programs, coordinates hiring and onboarding, and provides guidance on employee relations matters. The HR Generalist ensures compliance with federal and state employment regulations, maintains accurate employee records, and updates HR policies and procedures as needed.

Responsibilities:

Payroll & HRIS

• Process weekly payroll using ADP Workforce Now with accuracy and timeliness
• Maintain HRIS data and employee documentation
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries

Benefits Administration

• Administer health, dental, vision, and retirement benefit programs
• Coordinate open enrollment and benefits education
• Manage leave programs, including FMLA and disability
• Serve as primary contact for benefit providers

Recruitment & Onboarding

• Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, screening, and interviewing for entry-level roles
• Coordinate onboarding and new hire orientation
• Prepare new hire documentation and maintain compliance records

Employee Relations & Compliance

• Serve as a confidential resource for employee concerns
• Assist managers with performance and conduct issues
• Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations
• Update HR policies and the Employee Handbook

Training & Development Support

• Coordinate required trainings and track compliance documentation

Offboarding & Records

• Support offboarding processes and exit documentation
• Maintain organized and compliant employee records

Qualifications & Skills:

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3–5 years of HR generalist or operational HR experience
• Proficiency with ADP WorkforceNow payroll and HRIS functions
• Strong knowledge of federal and New York State employment laws.
• Experience with recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding
• Experience administering benefits and managing leave programs
• Ability to handle employee relations matters with discretion and judgment
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent)
• Experience in retail, service, or multi-department environments
• Experience coordinating training programs or compliance tracking
• Experience with offboarding and exit interviews
