Tractor Technician 2nd Shift 3 PM Start Time

Job Summary Maintenance Technician – responsible for repairing company equipment, performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, ensuring timely repairs, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. Primary Responsibilities Build, rebuild and repair all parts of company equipment as required in the department. Diagnose mechanical, electrical or other breakdowns or failures of motor trucks or related equipment. Read precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, voltmeters, digital multimeters, calibrators and other electronic diagnostic tools. Perform troubleshooting and failure analysis of component parts and systems on trucks, truck tractors, trailers, or converter dollies (may not apply to body and frame specialists). Use welding skills and knowledge of metals to complete truck repairs; converter dolly welders must weld horizontally and vertically without air pockets. Apply knowledge of DOT, EPA, ICC and OSHA rules and regulations. Complete required paperwork and records. Maintain superior customer relations and follow company policies. Job Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Experience working as a maintenance technician or equivalent education in truck repair and body/frame repair. Must provide own tools. Valid Commercial Driver’s License (when required). Working knowledge of systems on trucks/truck tractors, semi‑trailers or converter dollies. Proficient at reading precision instruments and performing failure analysis. Knowledge of DOT, EPA, ICC and OSHA rules and regulations. Willingness to participate in training classes and attend when scheduled. Willingness to take written and/or oral tests for management and classification. Ability to work on any piece of rolling stock and associated equipment as directed. Physical Demands Sitting: 10% of the time on stools, ground, or other surfaces. Standing: Up to 8‑10 hours per shift, 5‑7 days per week, on non‑forgiving surfaces. Moving/Walking: Up to 8 hours a day on non‑forgiving surfaces. Bending/Stooping/Kneeling: Frequent bending, squatting or kneeling to reach engine components. Climbing: Get onto/off truck cabins or forklifts during maintenance. Moving Materials: Load/unload trailers or move materials in shop. Lifting: Frequently lift and handle objects up to 100 lbs., using OSHA guidelines. Reaching: Reach into tight spaces for engine components. Hearing/Speaking: Hear horns, forklifts, and instructions; use hands with dexterity. Cognitive: Pay attention to surroundings, recall tools and parts, read work orders, etc. Work in hot or cold climates, noise, odors. Attendance required. Work Environment Enclosed vehicles, all weather conditions, varying noise levels, lighting conditions ranging from bright to low light. Exposure to other workers while performing maintenance.
