Salary: $20.00-$22.00

Kneads Bakeshop is an artisan bakery, caf & market in a state-of-the-art flagship facility based in Harbor East Baltimore. Kneads is a passion project by H&S Family of Bakeries to bring premium artisan baked goods, pastries, and food to our communities. Our wholesale distribution serves the DC/Maryland/Virginia region.

The H&S Family of Bakeries includes H&S Bakery, Northeast Foods, and Schmidt Baking Company to make up America's largest family-owned variety bakery, proudly providing specialty baked goods to major industry retailers and small businesses throughout the United States. From humble beginnings, one small bakery in Baltimore has grown to become a staple in our community. We want to combine H&S's history with the new age of artisan craft, creating a one-of-a-kind brand and experience, giving a modern face to H&S Bakery. We want people to see it, touch it, and taste it, to have a full sensory experience.

Position Summary

Kneads Bakeshop is expanding and preparing to open a new location in Navy Yard, Washington, DC. We are looking for a great prep cook that enjoys a fast-paced, high volume, high quality, creative and fun environment. Plan, prep, set up and provide quality service in all areas of food production for menu items and specials in accordance with departmental quality standards and recipes. Maintain organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment. This position description incorporates the core responsibilities of the job. It recognizes that other related duties not specifically mentioned might also be performed, and that not all responsibilities may be carried out depending on operational needs.

Role and Responsibilities

• Follows established food safety guidelines, recipes, standards and procedures.
• Maintaining a clean and food-safe environment.
• Passionately preparing, portioning, and/or cooking food items according to quality specifications.
• Assessing ingredients and items for freshness and quality, rotating product appropriately.
• Be a team player and work with a positive and supportive attitude.
• 2+ years in a Prep Cook role.
• High volume, scratch or upscale kitchen experience.

Additional Responsibilities

• Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the Bakery, including, but not limited to, those contained in the employee handbook.
• Kneads operates 7 days a week. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and employees may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.

Education and Experience

• Previous restaurant experience.
