Ophthalmic Technician

Brimhall Eye – Las Vegas, NV

Full-Time

Brimhall Eye is looking for an experienced, dependable, and patient-focused Ophthalmic Technician to join our clinical team.

We are a busy ophthalmology practice focused on providing an exceptional patient experience and high-quality eye care. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment, takes pride in their work, and understands the importance of both efficiency and compassionate patient care.

What You'll Do

As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will work closely with our physicians and clinical team to prepare patients for their examinations and help maintain an efficient patient flow throughout the clinic.

Responsibilities include:

• Perform comprehensive ophthalmic patient workups
• Obtain and accurately document chief complaint, medical history, ocular history, medications, and allergies
• Check visual acuity, pupils, motility, confrontation fields, and intraocular pressure
• Dilate patients as appropriate
• Perform diagnostic testing such as OCT, visual fields, pachymetry, corneal topography, and other ophthalmic testing
• Assist with IOL measurements and other pre-operative testing
• Scribe for physicians as needed
• Assist physicians with laser procedures and minor in-office procedures
• Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients throughout their visit
• Help maintain efficient patient flow and communicate delays or clinical needs with the team
• Clean, disinfect, stock, and prepare exam rooms and equipment
• Follow infection-control and sterilization procedures
• Assist with prescription refill requests, medication authorizations, and other clinical tasks as assigned

What We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate is someone who is:

• Experienced in ophthalmology or optometry
• Comfortable performing ophthalmic workups and diagnostic testing
• Detail-oriented and accurate with documentation
• Comfortable learning and using technology and electronic medical records
• Friendly, professional, and compassionate with patients
• Able to communicate effectively with physicians, coworkers, and patients
• Organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a busy clinic
• Dependable and willing to contribute wherever the team needs help
• Able to work efficiently without sacrificing the quality of the patient experience

Ophthalmic technician certification is preferred but not required depending on experience.

Physical Requirements

This position requires prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the clinic and the ability to assist with equipment, supplies, and normal clinical duties.
