Specialist, Quality Engineering Full Time – Hauppauge, NY, US Salary Range: $110,000.00 – $125,000.00 Annually Job Description: The Specialist, Quality Engineering is a critical role supporting our Quality Management System (QMS), driving improvements, and maintaining compliance. The successful candidate is self‑motivated, detail oriented, a team player, and collaborates closely with Production, Quality, Sales, Customer Service, and Engineering to meet customer commitments. Essential Functions: Work with Operations, Inspection, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain to address daily issues. Be data‑driven to assess processes, take measurements, and interpret data to facilitate continuous improvement. Report to the Quality Manager on quality issues, metrics, and trends to support management reviews and improvement initiatives. Identify root cause and corrective actions for nonconformances and customer complaints. Investigate causes for discrepancies and nonconformities, develop dispositions, and recommend corrective action plans. Execute assigned Failure Reports, CARs, SCARs, and Customer Complaints; drive root cause analysis to ensure permanent fixes. Coordinate Material Review Board (MRB) activities. Serve as guide for external third‑party audits, complete FAI reports, and support customer source inspections. Act as the primary interface to customers and suppliers for quality‑related matters. Evaluate and recommend on critical supplier selections and lead supplier continuous improvement processes, including on‑site audits, prototype evaluation, and review of supplier corrective actions. Answer questions and provide direction to employees on quality topics. Execute AS9100 compliance activities (internal and external audits, training). Conduct internal audits and work cross‑functionally to resolve findings through corrective actions. Be familiar with dimensional measuring equipment (OGP, handheld devices, etc.). Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or an associate degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience. Graduate degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience is also acceptable. Previous experience working in an AS9100 environment. Working knowledge of microelectronics products. Working knowledge of mechanical blueprints and tolerances. Technical expertise in aerospace engineering principles, strong attention to detail, and excellent problem‑solving skills. Preferred Additional Skills: Experience with FRACAS (Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System). Experience building an AS system. Six Sigma/DMAIC problem‑solving knowledge. Previous experience with AS9102 First Article Inspections. Familiarity with industry standards such as Mil Spec 883, IPC‑A‑610, and J‑STD‑001. Familiarity with interpreting customer contract flowdowns. Experience with government projects and onsite audits with DLA/DCMA.
