Mid-Level Elder Law Attorney

Job Summary

• We are seeking an experienced Mid-Level Elder Law Attorney to join our team and provide legal counsel to clients throughout New York City.

• The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Elder Law, Medicaid planning, crisis Medicaid applications, long-term care planning, and asset protection.

• This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys working directly with clients and families navigating complex healthcare, financial, and long-term care matters.

• The position is primarily remote, with an expectation of coming into the Hauppauge, NY office approximately once per week.

• We are ideally seeking candidates based in Brooklyn, as many of our clients are located there, but attorneys residing in other New York City boroughs will also be considered.

• Advise clients and their families regarding Medicaid eligibility, planning, and asset protection strategies.

• Develop and implement Medicaid pre-planning and crisis planning strategies.

• Handle and oversee crisis Medicaid applications and related matters.

• Counsel clients regarding long-term care planning, nursing home placement, and Medicaid eligibility.

• Prepare, review, and oversee estate planning documents.

• Assist clients with strategies to protect assets while planning for long-term care.

• Manage Medicaid applications, documentation, and appeals as needed.

• Work closely with families facing urgent healthcare, financial, and long-term care challenges.

• Maintain strong, compassionate relationships with clients and their families.

• Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals involved in clients' long-term care and estate planning needs.

• Maintain accurate case documentation and manage matters effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

• Active admission to the New York State Bar.

• Mid-level legal experience with a focus on Elder Law, Medicaid Planning, or related practice areas.

• Hands-on experience with Medicaid planning and Crisis Medicaid/Crisis Care.

• Strong understanding of Medicaid eligibility rules and crisis planning strategies.

• Experience with long-term care planning and nursing home Medicaid.

• Experience with asset protection strategies is strongly preferred.

• Estate Planning and/or Trusts & Estates experience is preferred.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent client service and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to manage sensitive and time-sensitive client matters with professionalism, discretion, and compassion.

• Ability to work independently in a primarily remote environment.

• Location

• The attorney will be expected to come into the Hauppauge, NY office approximately once per week.

• Ideal location: Brooklyn, NY, due to the concentration of clients in Brooklyn.

• Candidates residing in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx, or Staten Island will also be considered.

• Compensation

• $125,000 - $150,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
