Associate Attorney

Job Title: Commercial Litigation Attorney Location: New York, NY 10178, United States Employment Type: Full time Key Responsibilities Handle all phases of complex commercial litigation matters from inception through resolution. Draft and respond to complaints, answers, counterclaims, and other initial pleadings. Prepare, manage, and respond to written discovery requests and document productions. Conduct legal research and draft persuasive memoranda, motions, and briefs. Draft, argue, and defend dispositive and non-dispositive motions. Take and defend fact witness and expert witness depositions. Represent clients in hearings, conferences, mediations, and court proceedings. Develop litigation strategies in collaboration with partners and clients. Manage case files, deadlines, and litigation calendars efficiently. Communicate regularly with clients regarding case developments and legal strategy. Work on matters involving commercial disputes, contracts, business litigation, and other complex legal issues. Support trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit organization, and courtroom strategy. Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice groups on complex litigation matters. Required Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Active license to practice law in the State of New York. 5–7 years of experience in general commercial litigation. Experience litigating matters in both New York State and federal courts. Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and responses. Experience taking and defending depositions, including expert depositions. Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills. Strong academic credentials. Ability to independently manage multiple litigation matters simultaneously. Exceptional communication and client relationship management skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience handling real estate and finance-related litigation. Trial experience is a plus but not required. Prior experience at a large law firm is strongly preferred. Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced legal environment.
