Job Opportunity: Director of Pediatric Pulmonology

Our organization is on the lookout for a full-time, board-certified Director of Pediatric Pulmonology to head the Pediatric Pulmonary Division at Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH), which is affiliated with the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. The ideal candidate will take on a leadership role in clinical care, provide direct patient services, and supervise the education of residents and medical students, with the chance to engage in clinical research.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead clinical operations within the Pediatric Pulmonary Division.
• Deliver both inpatient and outpatient care to pediatric patients.
• Oversee the education and training of medical residents and students.
• Participate in clinical research initiatives.

The division comprises three full-time pediatric pulmonologists, a dedicated pulmonology nurse, and an asthma educator. The primary outpatient facility is our newly established Pediatric Multispecialty Center in Staten Island, which opened in 2024 and hosts 16 pediatric subspecialties in a welcoming, multidisciplinary environment. Additional resources include an 8-bed accredited Sleep Center, an Asthma Center, a pulmonary function testing lab, and a bronchoscopy suite. Our pediatric aerodigestive center, which integrates pediatric pulmonology, gastroenterology, and otolaryngology, commenced operations in early 2026 and is experiencing rapid growth.

Department Overview:

SIUH's Department of Pediatrics is a well-established and expanding unit, featuring a 20-bed inpatient pediatric unit supported by various pediatric subspecialties, including general surgery, orthopedics, trauma, otolaryngology, and ophthalmology. The department also includes a 4-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and a state-designated Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), managing approximately 2,000 pediatric inpatient discharges annually, 4,000 newborn deliveries, 10,000 outpatient faculty practice visits, and 20,000 pediatric emergency department visits. Recent enhancements include the cutting-edge Gruppuso Women & Infants Center, which opened in 2025, and the ongoing development of the Level III Joseph Maffeo Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which began in 2026. Faculty members have access to the academic and research facilities of the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, along with academic appointments at the Zucker School of Medicine.
