Manager In Training (Part-Time)

Job Title: Manager in Training Department: Operations FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Store Manager Hourly Rate: $10.35 Summary The Manager in Training assists the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The Manager in Training is knowledgeable in each product area or department in the store, helps determine methods and approaches to achieve store goals, promotes sales and promotions, acts as an ambassador of Hibbett I City Gear to create unique customer experiences, provides outstanding customer service, promotes merchandise, and assumes supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence. Additionally, the Manager in Training is trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear. Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and store responsibilities such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling. Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager. Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments when needed. Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability in all departments. Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed. Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movements and customer trends. Ensure quality customer service is maintained. Perform general administrative duties as needed and receive training on the Store Manager’s responsibilities. Deliver extraordinary customer service as highlighted in the customer service manual, including greeting customers upon entry and assisting multiple customers during peak periods. Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by Hibbett I City Gear. Practice and uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and company memos. Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management or relevant officials of potential fraud risks. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervises employees in the absence of the Store Manager, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems. Qualifications Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel. 1–3 years of customer service experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits. Self‑starter with initiative to undertake important tasks without being asked. Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with precision.
