Senior Director Corporate Health Safety and Environment

We are looking for a Sr Director of Corporate HSE to provide leadership, direction, and oversight of global HSE programs, with responsibilities including continuous improvement of compliance and risk management systems, ownership of HSE auditing programs for internal and external partners, leadership of HSE-related business development processes, monitoring HSE performance, and establishment of enterprise HSE processes and systems. Responsibilities Maintain Global HSE Standards and provide technical expertise to support their implementation. Oversee the Global HSE auditing function (internal and external) in alignment with Lilly global auditing practices. Lead assessment of HSE-related aspects for corporate business development initiatives (e.g., mergers, acquisitions, divestitures). Drive integration of Lilly standards into new sites and business areas. Promote HSE in business continuity and emergency management processes. Oversee the facilitation of the Corporate Incident Support Team. Identify enterprise-wide HSE aspects and implement programs to manage significant aspects and enable Global HSE governance. Develop and lead implementation of the enterprise HSE IT system strategy. Coordinate HSE considerations across the value chain and divisions to implement a comprehensive global HSE management system. Oversee due diligence and external partner programs related to HSE. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in HSE performance and goals. Establish Corporate HSE goals, track performance, and report to senior management and external stakeholders. Provide an external view of stakeholder expectations, industry trends, best practices, and emerging issues relevant to the enterprise; lead benchmarking efforts and manage professional and trade association memberships. Oversee HSE-related regulatory monitoring strategies and influence leadership where action is required. Lead and develop a team capable of providing functional leadership and technical expertise to implement the Global HSE management system. Develop Global HSE staff, provide direction and coaching, and manage performance through the Lilly performance management process. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree or greater in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or a related technical field. Ten years of HSE, engineering or operations related experience. Ten years of leadership experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience with practical application of HSE management systems. Strong organizational and analytical skills to manage the business and respond to performance changes or external factors. Experience and awareness of manufacturing operations, including external manufacturing. Ability to work across functions and influence upward; leadership and team-building skills. Education Bachelor’s Degree or greater in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering or a related technical field. Other Information Position will require primary work location in Indianapolis with occasional domestic and international travel (approximately 5 to 10%).
